Based on many of these reviews I expected to connect with the the main charcater/heroine, Lex. Unfortunafely I could not finish this book and only manaaged to get through 61% of the story (acording to my kindle). As I have read hundreds of novels featuring strong and empathetic female characters, Lex falls short of admirable traits I associate with a decent heroine. She started off as an independent woman (albeit the author makes it seem that everything came so easy to Lex and no real growth of character was experienced) but falls apart so fast at the hands of her immediate love interest. She tends to whine inappropriately like a bratty teenager and so readily allows these Nejerets to take over not just her physical life but who she is as a person. Add to that a romantic interest that is so cocky, shallow and misguided that I was hoping for him to be written off halfway into the story. The surrounding Nejerets were mostly confusing to the point of being useless (this is especially true of Marcus). I'm really sorry to say that this book really didd leave me dissatisfied and disappointed.Tags : Echo in Time (Echo Trilogy, #1) - Kindle edition by Lindsey Fairleigh. Echo in Time Echo Trilogy #1 eBook Lindsey Fairleigh Reviews
Masterfully written, intricate, fantastic and imaginative story line., Egypt at its best! I absolutely cannot praise this book enough. If you're a fan of all things Egyptian the this is the book for you! Well deserving of 5 stars. I would give the book a higher score of it was available. Couldn't put the book down because I had.to know what was going to happen next! As I said above, an absolutely mesmerizing read!
It’s hard to find a book that really has everything you are looking for. For me, this book was like finding a needle in a haystack. It was perfect. The ancient Egyptian history, the time travel, the romance, all balanced perfectly. The story was fast paced and I adored all of the characters. I read it in two sittings and have already purchased the next book. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
I've been seeing the ad for this book on my timeline for weeks. I finally broke down and let myself spend the money on it today. I literally read the entire book in less than 6 hours. I will admit it started a bit slow. But it picked up nicely. As a big fan of Egyptian mythology, this book was a welcome surprise. Lex could do some growing up, and Marcus could be less overbearing, but their dynamic is good. And I really liked the secondary characters, I would live to hear more about Dom and Neffe and especially Kat.
All in all I really enjoyed the story and I am looking forward to reading the next installments.
The story starts kind of slow. It lets you settle in before it hooks you so bad you can't put it down. And there's lots to learn about ancient Egypt in and among all the action. It's kind of about time travel, and religion, with lots of interesting ideas and magical powers thrown in. Things that happen early in the books are explained by events later, action threads come back and loop over themselves, and the depth of the story is exquisite. It keeps your mind occupied while entertaining you, and it all hangs together logically, something I demand in a time-travel/action adventure.
This was my first book by this author. I was so impressed I quickly ordered the rest of the series, and joined her fan page. This was such a good story, with strong characters that keep you intrigued through the entire story. I love Lex. I love how she is so relate able, strong and vulnerable. I don't want to be one of those reviewers that give almost the entire story and plot up in their review. I want to leave you with the story still unknown, new and fresh. This is the first of the series, which I have now read entirely (Yeah I completely binge read all in 3 days), including the novella's. Each book better then the last. Truly unique story line and is so well written. When dealing with Time Travel, sometimes things can be confusing if the author is not careful. This story flows beautifully and just keeps pulling you in deeper and deeper. I'm now set with the first story of Kat Dubois series, one of the major characters in the Echo Trilogy, and can't wait to continue this ride with her story.
Echo in Time is really good. It’s not a quick read from my perspective. It took me awhile to get through it. Have a very dense storyline that is complicated and a bit difficult to follow at times. But after finishing it I discovered a glossary at the end that would have been helpful to know was there to get a bit of a background. Overall really enjoyed and will read the other books in the series.
The book was interesting and unique take of fantasy/supernatural romance. The premise of this ancient Egypt meets magical powers meets contemporary world was really cool. I liked that the main girl had gumption. I was super interested in seeing her develop her powers more thoroughly and was disappointed that she didn't go through a real learning period. Main dude was confusing at the beginning, his attitude towards her was domineering and arrogant. If you're into the alpha male he would fit the bill. Eventually I became invested in them, I can definitely say that I like the way Fairleigh wrote their chemistry. I was curious enough to look into the descriptions of the next two books but their plots seemed rather lack-luster. Currently not interested in continuing the series but will update if that changes.
